Cancer Research Day 2013
The IU Simon Cancer Center hosts its annual Cancer Research Day on Wednesday, May 22.
This year, Cancer Research Day focuses on ovarian cancer, with a symposium at 8 a.m. Cancer center members Kenneth Nephew, PhD; Daniela Matei, MD; Emma Rossi, MD; Yan Xu, PhD; Karen Cowden Dahl, PhD; and Jeanne Schilder, MD, will present.
Anil Sood, MD, will present the keynote address, “Targeting Tumor Angiogenesis Using RNA Interference,” at 1:30 p.m. Dr. Sood is professor and vice chair for translational research in the Departments of Gynecologic Oncology and Cancer Biology, co-director of the Center for RNAi and Non-Coding RNA, and director of the Blanton-Davis ovarian cancer research program at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Students, fellows, and faculty conducting cancer research at IUPUI, Indiana University-Bloomington, Purdue University, and the Harper Cancer Research Institute, a collaboration between the IU School of Medicine and the University of Notre Dame, will present their research posters. Cash awards will be given for best poster(s) in each research category, by group.
Cancer Research Day is designed to increase understanding and awareness of IU Simon Cancer Center research endeavors and encourage collaboration with other cancer research institutions in Indiana.
Cancer Research Day takes place at the IUPUI Campus Center, 420 University Blvd., Room CE 450 (Multi-Purpose Room).
