Memorial Gifts

Creating a legacy through cancer research

IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center physicians and scientists are grateful to families who choose to direct their loved one’s memorial gifts to cancer research or education.

The IUSCCC development team will provide you or your funeral home with suggested obituary language, including where gifts should be mailed and how checks should be made payable. We can also provide personalized memorial gift envelopes that we will ship directly to the funeral home.

If your family wishes to learn more about this program, please contact Meghan McFadden at 317-274-7409 or megmcfad@iupui.edu.

Information we will need from your family include:

  • Name of the deceased: Make sure you indicate exactly how you wish your loved one’s name to appear on memorial gift envelopes and in thank-you letters to donors.
  • Area to support: This is the fund the family wishes to support. For example, if your loved one suffered from lung cancer and you wish to designate gifts for lung cancer research, please indicate that to us.
  • Next-of-kin information: Please provide the name of the person you wish to receive notification of gifts made in memory of your loved one. We will need a name, address, phone number, and e-mail address, if available. Our office will send gift reports to the next-of-kin twice each month as long as memorial gifts are still being received.
