The most inspirational cancer success story of our time happened right here at Indiana University. Thirty years ago, testicular cancer was the leading cause of cancer death in young men. In the late 1970s, IU oncologist Lawrence Einhorn and urologic surgeon John Donohue developed a radical new approach to treatment that today has resulted in a 95 percent cure rate for testicular cancer.

The IU Simon Cancer Center’s most famous patient is cycling champion Lance Armstrong, whose name resonates internationally with cancer patients and survivors. Lance is just one of many who have made the life-saving decision to travel here for treatment.

“I am alive today thanks to the IU Simon Cancer Center,” Lance says.
