Join the IU Cancer Center's Cancer Survivors Choir
The Indiana University Cancer Center is now recruiting adults touched by cancer - either through their own illness or that of a loved one – for a Cancer Survivors Choir.
“Singing in a choir can help reduce stress and improve your mood,” says Debra S. Burns, PhD, board-certified music therapist at Indiana University Cancer Center and IU School of Music.
The choir’s first performance will be on May 30 at 5 p.m. in the Indiana Cancer Pavilion during the Torchbearer Awards Ceremony celebrating those who fight and transcend cancer. The ceremony is held at the conclusion of the center’s annual National Cancer Survivors Day® event, Celebration of Life.
Participation in four rehearsals in May prior to the performance is encouraged. The rehearsals and performance will be led by Conductor Chris Ludwa.
