Late Effects:
Hearing Loss (Ototoxicity)
Hearing loss usually affects both ears and is irreversible.
It can be caused:
- By cisplatin, which is one of the most active drugs used in osteosarcoma
- If ifosfamide (another drug) is given before or at the same time as cisplatin
- By the intensity of the dosage schedule
- If other drugs were given at the time of therapy
