What to expect
Destruction of the platelets (blood cells needed for clotting) can result in bruising and bleeding.
- Bruising or petechiae (small red, pinpoint freckles on the skin)
- Bleeding from your nose or gums that doesn't stop with pressure within 10 minutes
How to cope
Let your doctor know if you are bleeding or start having petechiae. Your doctor might need to check your blood count
and give you a platelet transfusion.
