Patient Care Facilities

IU Simon Cancer Center offers an extraordinary range of services in several facilities located on the IU School of Medicine campus in downtown Indianapolis. Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center

The new Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center adult patient care building (opened August 2008) brings together inpatient and outpatient services in one location at 1030 W. Michigan St. This 150,000-square-foot facility is a partnership between IU School of Medicine and Clarian Health.

Please review the areas below to determine the best entrance to use for IU Simon Cancer Center as departments move from the Indiana Cancer Pavilion (Barnhill Drive entrance) to the new patient care building (West Michigan Street entrance). All moves will be finalized in mid- to late 2010.

West Michigan Street Entrance (outpatient and inpatient)

  • Surgery – Lower Level
  • Radiology (general imaging, CT, PET/CT, MRI) – First Floor
  • Outpatient Hematology Clinic – Second Floor
  • Outpatient Women’s Clinic – Second Floor
  • Infusion (chemotherapy) – Second Floor
  • Adult Hematology/Oncology Inpatient Unit – Third Floor
  • Surgical Intensive Care Unit – Fifth Floor

Barnhill Drive Entrance (Indiana Cancer Pavilion) (outpatient only)

  • Radiation Oncology – Lower Level
  • Outpatient Multidisciplinary Clinic – Second Floor
  • Outpatient Urology Clinic – Third Floor
  • Administrative and Physician Offices – Varied Floors
  • Research Offices – Varied Floors 

Additional patient care may occur at one of five additional hospitals and clinics, two of which -- Indiana University Hospital and Riley Hospital for Children -- are part of Clarian Health.

  • Indiana Cancer Pavilion for outpatient care is an 89,000-square-foot building located next to Indiana University Hospital.
  • Indiana University Hospital provides adult inpatient services and research support to the IU Simon Cancer Center.
  • Riley Hospital for Children, a specialty referral center for infants, children and adolescents, is located about a half block north of the Indiana Cancer Pavilion. Riley is one of the 15 largest children's hospitals in the nation, caring for more than 57,000 patients a year.
  • Richard L. Roudebush Veterans Administration Medical Center (VAMC) is a tertiary care facility serving Indiana veterans. It provides acute inpatient medical, surgical, psychiatric, neurological, and rehabilitation care, as well as both primary and specialized outpatient services. IU Simon Cancer Center physicians provide cancer care at this medical center affiliated with the IU School of Medicine.
  • Wishard Health Services is a community health system with a special emphasis on vulnerable populations in Marion County/Indianapolis. The IU Simon Cancer Center provides cancer care at this hospital affiliated with the IU School of Medicine.
