Billing

Some of our patients at the IU Simon Cancer Center may find themselves getting overwhelmed with various medical bills due to doctor appointments, treatment or perhaps both.

A patient could potentially get two different bills, one from UMDA (University Medical Diagnostic Associates) and one from IU Health. A patient will receive a bill from UMDA for some doctor appointments and chemotherapy treatments. Lab work and radiation therapy as well as any services such as surgery or scans that took place at IU Health UniversityHospital, Methodist or Riley is billed through IU Health. You could possibly get multiple bills for the same service. For example, if the patient has a chest X-ray, they will get a bill for this and a separate bill from the radiologist for the interpretation of the X-ray.

For further information about billing as well as possible financial assistance programs, please contact our financial counselors. You may also visit the IU Health Web site for more information about billing.
