The long term goal of my laboratory is to understand how de-differentiation of mammary epithelial cells during breast cancer initiation and progression is coordinated with the loss of growth control. Specifically we are analyzing the interrelationship between protein sorting decisions and the maintenance or loss of differentiation. Particular focus is on the impact of changes in the expression of the adaptor protein Amot on tight junction integrity and the induction of HIPPO signaling that underlies aberrant cell growth and invasiveness.
