Criteria

Eligibility criteria for membership at the IU Simon Cancer Center varies according to the three types of members: full, associate, and affiliate. Membership eligibility is reviewed on an annual basis, and membership may be terminated if an individual does not meet the criteria listed below.

Full members of the IU Simon Cancer Center will fulfill one or more of the following criteria:

  1. Conduct peer-reviewed funded cancer research.
  2. Act as protocol chairperson for a national peer-reviewed (CTEP) clinical trial or serve as a senior leader of a national peer-reviewed funded cooperative group .
  3. Make meaningful contributions to the activities of a Cancer Center research program as manifested by:
    • co-publications
    • joint funding applications
    • other significant contributions to the research mission, such as a key leadership role or critical role in the conduct of translational research

Associate members are newly recruited faculty who are in their start-up period. They are not required to have peer-reviewed support or play a significant roll in a national cooperative group. They must show the promise of attaining these goals, and their progress is reviewed as a part of the annual review process.

Affiliate members contribute to the overall mission of the Cancer Center in areas of research, education, patient care, or community outreach.
