Research Interests
I am motivated to determine the cognitive, social, behavioral, and physiological (mostly endocrine and immune) mechanisms linking increases in psychological stress to cancer incidence, prognosis and recurrence. I am also very interested in facilitating adjustment to major illnesses such as cancer, including the role of religion a?? specifically, a deep commitment and trust in God a?? in psychological adjustment to illness and disease prognosis. My ultimate goal is to develop and test interventions based upon stress and coping theories as they relate to improved mental and physical health.
