Research Interests

To identify and characterize genetic signatures which distinguish clinically agressive lethal prostate cancer from the more common indolent pehnotype with a particular focus on defining key pathogenic mechanims which can explain the current increased incidence and mortality seen among African-American prostate cancer patients compared to their Caucasian counterparts. A specific focus will be anlyzing oxidative DNA damage as a potential cause of genetic alterations seen in prostate cancer patients. In bladder cancer, will develop new therapeutic protocols for patients of all disease stages with translational focus on genetic and epigenetic signatures as a prognostic tool and as a potential targets for future drug development.
