AIM #1: Determine the association between colorectal cancer (and other gastrointestinal malignancies) survival, stage of disease, and the promoter site methylation status of candidate tumor suppressor genes implicated in human carcinogenesis. AIM #2: Determine the association between chemoresponsiveness of hepatic colorectal cancer metastases and the epigenetic silencing of candidate tumor suppressor genes. AIM #3: Develop an epigenetic and glycoproteomic molecular marker system for the early detection of solid gastrointestinal tumors.
